2012 BAFTA's For Animation

Yesterday BAFTAs were handed out, and the winners of the Animated Feature and Shorts categories were Gore Verbinski’s 'Rango' and Grant Orchard’s 'A Morning Stroll'.

The production design award went to 'Hugo', and the best Special/Visual Effects prize was awarded to 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2'.

'Rango' took home the Best Animated Feature award at the Annie Award ceremony last week and with 'Rango' having been shortlisted for an Oscar nomination it could be taking home a triple of top awards!

The academy awards showed how poor the selection of 2011 animated features were. Everything was a sort of sequel, except for Rango, which I thought was just okay. Hopefully, 2012 is going to be a better year...
