Jeremy Scott SpongeBob Necklace

Fashion designer Jeremy Scott is clearly a huge fan of cartoons and animation in the past his designs have feature 'Mickey Mouse' and 'The Simpsons'. More recently, in Jeremy Scott's Spring 2013 Runway Show, he was seen wearing a custom 24K gold SpongeBob Pharaoh Necklace.

The necklace is actually a Burger King toy from 2005 painted with an electro-conductive spray paint and electro-formed over a period of two weeks coating the soft plastic toy in an even copper shell. The figure was then plated in a layer of nickel and then a layer of 24kt gold. As a finishing touch jet black Swarovski Crystals were flush set into the eyes!

It's amazing to think a cheaply made plastic toy can be transformed into something so expensive, we'd be fascinated to know just how expensive.
