Chris Hutchison directed the CG team at Rushes to bring to life a series of humorous short films based on what might happen to the litter and rubbish on London's streets. Who knows!? Whilst you're not looking perhaps a tiny submarine does obliterate that fag end you just discarded!
After unveiling the official LEGO Simpsons House Set earlier in the year, LEGO have also announced a 16 piece collectible minifigures series. The 550th episode of the show, titled 'Brick Like Me', sees Homer wakes up to find that everyone in Springfield is made of LEGO!
The Layzell Bros. strike comedy gold yet again!
Taking real telephone conversations captured through spoof 0800 numbers, they animated surreal spots for Three Mobile, highlighting the introduction of free calls to 0800 lines on their mobile plans.
With clips from the compliment line, the nickname line, the time-wasting line, the sympathy line and the lullaby line, the Layzells use their unique visual style and humor to bring the lines to life.
Marcus Armitage animated this oil on glass film during his first year studying a Masters at The Royal College of Art.
'Over Dinner' explores the overwhelming emotion a young man experiences during his last family meal before he leaves to join the Army.
As part of the OFFSET 2014 series of events, Hendrons Collider hosted a three day exhibition of Simpsons themed multi-disciplinary masterpieces by the likes of Mick Minogue, Steve McCarthy, Mark Wickham, Fatti Burke, Rob Summons, Robert Ickis Mirolo, Saoirse Wall, Geoff Ryan, Cyan Ryan, Hollie Flood and others!
'Do The Art Man' featured a wide variety of pieces, with each artist choosing their own muse from the shows long running history. Mick Minogue put a 'Lost in Translation' spin on the Gummi De Milo from the episode 'Homer Badman', Paddy Dunne's re-interpretation of Goya's 'Saturn Devouring His Son' features Bart and his evil clown bed from the episode 'Lisa's First Word' and one artist contributed a series of photographs of Simpsons graffiti including the recent spate of Hank Scorpio stickers that have been cropping up across Dublin.
German artist, illustrator and animator Tim Romanowsky has just released his fantastic 2013 animated short 'BOWOB' online.
"A House, a box and a weird world! A black hairy creature finds a strange box somewhere in its boring place. It starts a game and suddenly everything's changed… a new world full of absurd scenes and creatures arise."
Tim's unique aesthetic is achieved through painterly 2D animation applied to a mix of flat and three dimensional elements, all seamlessly and fluidly combined. Tim also used this style to great effect in his 2010 animated short 'Peanuts', a graphic re-imagining of a 1929 Ub Iwerks short.
Tim Romanowsky also forms one third of the illustration collective Zyklop. The Animated Review recently featured their mini-zine tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants! Take a look: Zyklop: SpongeBob Mini Zine
Superb up-and-coming multimedia Chinese animation artist, Lei Lei, also know as "Ray" Lei, has crafted a new hallucinatory animated short that follows a protagonist on a quest through an imaginary world inspired by vintage book covers.
Professional tattooist Ash Davies has just released the 'Worst 'Zine Ever'! Unlike the Comic Book Guy quote used for the title might suggest, this is possibly the best Simpsons tribute 'zine ever conceived.
The 'zine is bursting with 50 A5 pages of original artwork, photos, illustrations and tattoos… but don't expect any references past around season 12. Alongside Ash's own work their are also contributions by Billy Hay, Brad T, Gavin Rose, Fil, Mark Ford, Marcus McGuire, Marcos Attlewood, Nick Baldwin and Swambo. As an additional bonus each 'zine includes a sticker sheet of Simpsony goodness!
Pictured here is the deluxe pre-order edition which also included... A hand-made dust jacket crafted from some bootleg Simpsons fabric, a print featuring a Cerberus version of Santa's Little Helper and a one of a kind mini-painting. The standard edition, which includes just the 'zine and sticker sheet, is priced £20.00 and available now via: www.ashmadethese.bigcartel.com
Sarina Nihei's 'Trifling Habits' follows the repetitive manner of a man and his work-life and that of a housewife striving to find an agreeable meal for her child, until a car accident interrupts their usual routine.
Luiz Stockler's 2013 RCA graduation short 'Montenegro' is now online for us to share.
'Montenegro' is a wonderfully conceived bleak comedy short, which follows the daily routine of a self-doubting and depressed individual...
Graphic designer, visual artists and animator Louis Crevier, created this excellent music video for Fortune Howl track 'Interzone Export', in which we see a lone figure (Adam) walk the ruins of our world searching for peace.
"Interzone Export's video tells a story of loss and destruction. It asks the question of how to cope with trauma, loneliness, and ultimately guilt. It shows delusion and illusions as a temporary savior that still fails overtime. In that sense, Adam may just be someone trying to deal with his life and where it has taken him. But Adam, being the last man on earth, has become Mankind as a whole. And mankind, in a very real sense I believe, will, at some point, have to deal with the consequences of present and past behavior." Louis Crevier
Andreas Martini created this innovative animated music video for the song 'VBFkt Ub/Migraine' by Mtch.

Caleb Wood was invited to produce an animation installation at the Prøve Gallery in Duluth, MN. The result was a mural composed of single frames of animation, draw free-hand in columns directly onto the walls of the gallery. The drawings were then individually shot and composited together resulting in 'Plumb', the short film you see below. The fluidity with which the end result flows is a testament, not only to Calebs amazing drawing skills, but to his raw talent as an animator. Truly amazing!
Samuel Lewis at Oh Yeah Wow directed this epic stop motion battle between two wooden titans, dark and light. The wonderful piece was animated as a music video for Elliot The Bull track 'Colourblind'.
This animated/live action music video for Sumire Uesaka track 'The Parallax View' is a 16-bit sensory bombardment of insane visuals and heavy metal J-pop!
If this didn't quite induce a seizure, head over to the official King Records website for the extra intense version of the video! Sumire Uesaka - The Parallax View
Motion graphics designer and animator Takashi Ohashi brings us another appealingly Japanese music video, this time for Fhána track 'Kotonoha Breakdown'.
This new MV is animated in Takashi's typically glitchy and frantic style, with the addition of Kawaii-esque characters designed by Yuzusa.
Here at the Animated Review we're suckers for a good flip book.
This flip book, complete with it's own hessian bag, was designed by Diego Lara, Yolanda Florinda Pamungkasputri and Redondo, all BA students in Graphic Design Visual Communication at Istituto Europeo di Design, Madrid.
The Jullien Brother, Nicolas and Jean Jullien, are two French multidisciplinary artists whose body of work spans direction, graphic design, illustration, animation, installation, music and more!
Whilst the brothers have often collaborated on a number of projects, Jean, a graphic design graduate from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art, has a huge following a designer & illustrator, whilst Nicolas has found success with his electronic music, having previously released work under the name Niwouinwouin. Together they've forged a quite unique and formidable output of wacky greatness!
The latest Jullien Brother project is the perfect manifestation of their combined individual talents. This, pretty smutty but perfectly subtle, music video for The Coward (Nicolas' new musical project) is accompanied by Jean's instantly recognisable illustrative style.
Enjoy the video and buy the album: The Coward
Andy Baker created this animated loop for the 'Wu-Tang is for the children' London show celebrating the 20th anniversary of Wu-Tang's debut '36 Chambers'. The latest guest directed Simpsons couch gag comes courtesy of Slyvain Chomet!
The piece was actually animated in the UK by Neil Boyle and Peter Dodd (and their animation assistants), and art directed by Kirk Hendry. Boyle has written a comprehensive look at the making of the Simpsons opening on his blog, which is well worth checking out.

We only recently posted Chris Ullens ethereal stop motion music video for London Grammar track 'Hey Now' before he's back with a completely fresh project.
The newly released music video for Norwegian trio Atella, and their track 'The Monster', sees Chris undertake his first ever 2D hand-drawn animation! Working closely with co-illustrator Bill Porter, the video is a barrage of expressive illustration comprised of two composited layers... loose colour-washes, overlaid with impressionistic black and white sketches.
Studio Job, Joris & Marieke have previously worked together with Happy Camper on the music video for 'Born with a Bothered Mind' and on the short film 'MUTE'. They've collaborated again on another music video, this time for Happy Camper's new track 'The Daily Drumbeat'!
The story is set on the rooftops of a big city, where a group of humbug-stripped creatures battle it out for sole possession of a drum kit through extravagant displays of Parkour skills and drum solos!
In 2010 Finnish film producer/director Hanna Hemilä and French animation film director-producer Xavier Picard joined forces and collaborated on developing 'Moomins on the Riviera', a hand-drawn feature length movie based on the original Tove and Lars Jansson comic strips.
The film is now set for released in October 2014 to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Tove Jansson’s birth, although they are yet to find a UK distribution partner.
In the meantime you get more information from the official website, and enjoy this sneak peek teaser trailer...
Polish music video maestros Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski, who have appeared on the Animated Review before with their stunning creations for Shugo Tokumaru and We Cut Corners, are back with another breathtakingly good piece of MV animation!
The second Kijek/Adamski outing with We Cut Corners was animated to accompany their new track 'Best Friends'. The visuals look like they were created on a chalkboard frame-by-frame, and knowing that the duo created over 1,800 hand-drawn marker pen drawings for their last We Cut Corners MV and appreciating the laborious reverse strata-cut stop motion technique behind the Shugo Tokumaru video, we wouldn't be surprised to learn it was!
Zach Schrey's artwork is rooted in contemporary urban culture and pop-culture imagery. Continuing his series of melty cartoon characters, Schrey will be releasing some new prints in the coming weeks.

Alexandra Levasseur animated 'Table d'Hôte', a documentary sequence about industrial meat processing and the food we eat, during her studies at Mel Hoppenheim School Of Cinema...
Bezalel Academy graduate Nadav Nachmany brings us his latest animated short, a metaphor about blind faith and religion told through a colony of frogs and their obsessive worship of a frog-shaped helium balloon.
As far as animation branded/inspired product design goes this range of wooden tables, modeled after Disney's 'Winnie the Pooh and Friends' by Japanese furniture brand Nendo, has to be the most subtle effort we've ever seen.
As stand-alone pieces the influence of each individual character would surely go unnoticed, even seen as a full set the design is so subtle it'd be unlikely you'd make the connection.
Made from maple timber, each design features coloured knitted cladding with each size and silhouette subtly indicating the different characters from the show... From the two yellow feet representing Winnie the Pooh, to Tigger’s bright orange tail, each character’s distinctive clothes, hair and tails (or lack of) are suggested in this elegant version of the childhood series.
Inspired by the luxury space cruise liner Fhloston Paradise from 'The Fifth Element', Khylin Woodrow animated this tropical short short for the Titmouse 5 Second Day project.
The new stop motion music video for the Cut Copy track 'We Are Explorers' features over 200 3D-printed, UV-reactive, glow in the dark, figurines brought to life on the streets of Los Angeles.
As an added bonus, Cut Copy have also made all the content, including the music, video and 3D printer files available for download via BitTorrent, in the hope that fans will manufacture their own miniature figures and animate their own versions of the video.
Michael W. Mateyko and Hans B. Thiessen aka KOMBOH have appeared once before on the Animated Review, with their super stylised print tribute to Studio Ghibli.
The illustration and graphic design duo have once again caught our attention with the nice amalgamation of 'Zelda' and 'Adventure Time', cunningly titled 'The Legend of Adventure'.
Printed to order in a variety of sizes (in both 32-bit & 8-bit colour variants) on natural white, matte, ultra smooth, 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin free archival paper using an advanced digital dry ink method to ensure vibrant image quality via the KOMBOH Society6 online store.
Stop motion extraordinaire PES is back with a new film titled 'Black Gold'.
The piece was commissioned by Italian online fashion retailer Yoox to announce their collaboration with jewellery designer Delfina Deletrez. The only direction given to PES was that it must feature the insect jewelry from the collection... Trust PES to conceive a surrealistic short film along the lines of Dalí or Buñuel, in witch the body of golden women is colonised by creepy crawlies!
